Why Pathways?
This admissions blog is intended to share insight and helpful tips for people standing at a crossroads, ready to take the next step in their pursuit of a meaningful vocation into medical school. To become a physician is to answer the call to service, but figuring out how to answer that call is neither straightforward nor easy. We draw on our experience to guide our med school clients to the path that will take them to their life project.
Indeed, we conceive of Rosette Pathways as our own life project. We thus view pathways in a metaphysical sense through the Buddhist notion of dharma; it is both a practice, a path to righteousness, and a state, a human being’s moral transformation. As one of the fundamental principles that underlies Buddhist thought, dharma/pathway refers to the outlook represented in Buddhism’s three jewels: buddha (enlightened one), dharma (path and practice), and sidhan (community of practitioners). We embrace this outlook in our work with clients in the admissions process, who we have the opportunity to see grow throughout the med school application process. Buddha embodies the idea of bettering ourselves through awareness (exploring who we are and who we wish to be) while sidhan emphasizes the importance of community.
Through Pathways Blog and our company Rosette Pathways, we aim to cultivate a harmonious community of future physicians who aspire to improve people’s quality of life. As a relationship-centered field, physicians need to practice civic-mindedness by forming authentic relations between patients and their families as well as colleagues. We are dedicated to providing a supportive community where our med school clients forge connections not only with us, but with each other. There is nothing better than having a comrade-in-arms who understands the frustrations and intensity of the med school application process because they are going through it too. To that end, we deliberately create a network for our med school clients that values connections and provides additional support along the way to achieving their goals.
